Nirlit was born in the Dalelands in Faerun to a woman who had been banished from her village (where she had been the former wife of the mayor) for her scandalous association with the infamous Tilrin the Trustworthy. Ever after the drifter, Nirlit and his mother moved from town to town, resting only as long as it took for the rumors and scandal to catch up with them. Eventually, this took its toll when they were ambushed in a goblin raid that left Nirlit orphaned and alone in the world.

Nirlit was able to eventually track down Tilrin by following the exploits of The Order Of The Phoenix. In a chance encounter with a founding member, Pradir, he was strongly cautioned against proceeding further and was even offered enough gold to re-establish himself anywhere is Faerun. Alas, Nirlit felt he had to meet the man he knew only through legend and no amount of frenzied urging on the part of Pradir, TOOP, or the Ruling Council of the Dalelands (which passed a unanimous resolution describing Nirlit’s quest as “a totally bad idea”) would convince him otherwise.

Tilrin was uncharacteristically accepting of his knew adolescent charge, and immediately set forth training him in the art of stealth and together they began forming a plan to raid the holiest inner sanctum of the Zentarim. At last the years of isolation and hardship were over, and Nirlit took to his training with enthusiasm. Upon reaching maturity a year later, he and his father put their plan into action.

Unfortunately for Nirlit, the plan ended up being a ruse by Tilrin to simultaneously thwart the most powerful teleportation trap in Faeurun and rid himself of a lifetime of inconvenient family commitments.

Nirlit awoke on an entirely new plane of existance, seemingly forever banished from Faerun. He has since focused his talents towards the killing side of his craft with the intent of “making a monument of corpses that I may climb back to Faerun and complete with the oily hide of my father.”
